This weekend in sports....

Well, let us start with the showdown in West Lafayette - Purdue .vs. Michigan. This will be a hard prediction for me to type, I bleed maize and blue, but the facts are the facts and I have to present them to you as unbiased as possible. Here we go - the U of M defense will keep Kyle Orton in check, not like in the past, but not letting him put up Heisman like numbers either. I am guessing we are looking at a stat line of about 16 for 22 for 223 yards and 2 TD's, with one interception to boot. The defense will also pressure him all day, much like he has never seen all year, sacking him a couple times. However, the offense for the Wolverines, mainly Chad Henne, will be the Wolverines undoing on this day. Henne, still a freshman at heart, will throw two key interceptions that will result in Purdue getting 14 very easy points. My man, the only reason why U-M even has a winning record, Mike Hart, will keep the game close with 175 yards of rushing, along with the Wolverines only touchdown of the day. The rest of their points will come off of field goals, seeing as Garret Rivas remembers you are actually suppose to put the ball between the uprights and not to the left or right. The defense and Mike Hart will do all they can to keep the game within reach, but ultimately Henne's inability to actually throw to his receivers and not Purdues secondary will be the Wolverines undoing on this day. My final score prediction for this much anticipated game is........

Boilermakers 23, Wolverines 16.

Okay, now that the hard part is over, the easy part - the Lions will lose, again. See, the problem here is again the quarterback, Joey Harrington. I am tired of hearing all this crap about "If we just give Joey a running game and some decent receivers he will be a great quarterback." That is garbage and it needs to stop. I don't care if Jesus is the Lions running back and the receivers consist of the 4 of the 12 apostles, Joey will NEVER BE ANYTHING BUT A DECENT BACK UP QUARTERBACK IN THIS LEAGUE. Once again on this day Joey will make all Lions fans remember Andre Ware, in fact Joey makes Andre Ware look pretty good on most Sundays, and the Lions will fall flat on their faces. The offense will be lucky to score a touchdown, the Joey will continue to piss his pants in the pocket and confuse the opposing secondary for Lions receivers, and the Lions will be 3-3 before we know it. I don't even know if I can come up with a guess here for a score, but I guess I will try and just say.....

Giants 26, Lions 9.

That is all for my weekend predictions, now for a hint of things to come next week. We will recap the U-M game, we will recap the Lions game ( if I can call it that ), as well as some fresh topics that may or may not include the NHL lockout, Carmelo Anthony and his "my friends weed" bullshit, plus maybe a little Pistons preview finally. All in all, it should be a good weekend in sports, enjoy and godspeed my hearties. And, if you want to see a real quarterback actually doing his job, watch Tom Brady take it to the Jets as they win #21 in a row. Until Monday, be safe and enjoy the weekend sports world safely and responsibly - the sports dude.

It's a miracle... part 2.... part2?!?!?

Well, like I stated earlier in another post, I lost an entire post from yesterday with this title - except now I added another part 2 because this is truly the second time that I have posted about this. This one will be shorter, due to time constraints, but the point will still be the same.

Yes, the above miracle is being mentioned about the Red Soxs miracle come back against the Yankees, the Evil Empire of baseball if you will. I am, like most people not from New York or named Steinbrenner, a Yankee hater, plain and simple. My point though yesterday was simply this - what the Red Sox did now changes sports FOREVER! Think about this folks, in any sport, whether it be baseball, basketball, hockey, whatever - if there is a best of seven format, the rules have now changed forever. If a team is down, 3-0, in said best of seven series, no one can ever - EVER - utter the words that this thing is just about wrapped up, in the books, all but done. The proof is in the pudding folks, all you have to do is say the following statement "The 2004 Red Sox came back from 3-0 against the Yankees, why can't our team do the same?". By doing what they did, any team from now on that is up 3-0, in any sport, will be reminded of the fact that it has been done before, it could be done again, and that no series is truly won until someone gets that fourth victory. Point in case, sports has been rewritten for the better - and it makes it a little sweeter that it was done against the Evil Empire, doesn't it?

My other point was that this has been an amazing year for champions. First we had my beloved Pistons and their montra "Play the right way", a true team doing what teams do - displaying teamwork - flattening the star studded Lakers in the first five game sweep in sports history. Now, the amazing, first time ever, come from 3-0 down series victory by the bean town boys, it doesn't get any better does it? Even the NHL with the small time Tampa Bay Lightning, the NFL with the Patriots, it is a great time in sports if you ask me.

Well, that is all for now, I shall return later to preview the weekend and give hints about next weeks topics, until then, read on and wait for more my friends - the sports dude.

What the hell?!?!?

I had an entire post on here that I wrote yesterday morning titled "Do you believe in miracles... Part 2". Somehow it got erased and I am not sure how. It was there last night when I went home and this morning, it is gone. Anyway, I have no time right now to rewrite what little I remember, so I will try and do it later. Damn, that pisses me off blogger, it had a lot of good points too! Oh well, that will just give me an excuse to blog later. Until then - the pissed off sports dude.

A-Rod whines, cheats and the fans act like babies...

Well, history in the making - the first team, if I am not mistaken, to come back from a 3-0 deficit and force a game 7. I can honestly say it is not so much that I am a Red Sox fan, it is just that I am a Yankee Hater! I am tired of the Yankees being there, year in and year out and just buying whoever they want in order to "hopefully" win the World Series. Hopefully the momentum will stay with the Sox, hopefully they can carry it over into a remarkable comeback, and hopefully they will win it tonight and go to the world series. It would be nice to see, a great story to break "The Curse", and to break it in record setting fashion would even be more special if you ask me. But only time will tell, and if I know the Yankees, it will be a drag out slugfest that I am sure will go into extra innings, yet again.

Now, onto the A-Rod garbage. Did anyone see that swing he took? I mean, if his justification is that he was using his usual running motion and that was what caused the ball to be knocked away - hello? Do you usually run like a little school girl letting your arms swing looslely this way and that? Does he even know how much more ridiculous it is that he is saying that is just how he runs? I give credit to Torre for arguing, that is what good managers are suppose to do, but come on A-Rod!?!? I just lost what little respect I had left for you, and there was very little anyway, for that argument. If you actually do run like that, I mean all girly and shit, then maybe you need to work on your form this off season instead of your image. Go back to the track and learn to run the right way.

As for the Yankee fans, next time throw the baseballs, beer bottles, batteries and other foreign objects at yourselves. That way if it hits you, which being Yankee fans your aim is probably not that good, it will knock some sense into you. Your behavior was child like and completely inappropriate. Seeing the riot police on the field made me feel like I was watching an Iraqi soccer match and not Americas past time. Grow up and get over it. The officials made all the right calls and I think you should be ashamed - not only that you call yourselves fans, but that you call yourselves Americans. Get a life, don't drink so much, and go get some tissues for your whinny, snot nosed bullshit - and tell A-Rod I said hello when you get there and you are all crying together.

Until the next time, signing off - the sports dude.

more to come....

There will be more fun and exciting posts in the future, this I promise. In the mean time I will make note that my links column will be expanding in the future, as time permits me to add to it I will. If anyone discovers this blog and wishes me not to link to them, once they discover I have done just that, please let me know and I will remove your link from my side bar. I do not wish to offend and I do not wish to pay any royalties to any of the linked sites in my side bar. I also do not wish to have any royalties paid to me, all I ask is that if you like what you see - in the future it will be more exciting - then please link to me. I am not out to make enemies, only friends in the sports blog, or just blog world, in general.

Soon I will post about the upcoming U-M showdown with Purdue, the NHL lockout ( not that I care for hockey, but it is news worthy here in sports blog world ) and hopefully I will add my weekly bikini babe on Friday. That is all, check back for more and enjoy - the sports dude.

hello world

First time for everything!! This is my fourth attempt at blogging and actually sticking to it. The problem with the other blogs is they just got too tedious and boring. They were either my attempts to be political, to be funny, or just plain annoying. Quite frankly, they all got boring after awhile. Therefore, since deep down I do enjoy blogging, I decided to give the sports blog a try. After all, to me the only news is the sports section, the rest of the paper just gets burned or is used to line the bird cage. I can give you the typical front page from the local paper here in detroit everyday, somebody dies over drugs, somebody killed over drugs, the mayor is a pimp and doesn't deserve to be in office, the city council is on crack, gas prices high, war in Iraq, and usually something about guns or rape. Very depressing, if you ask me, that is why I love the city of detroit so much. But, the e detroit sports scene - now that is really worth reading about, watching and enjoying. That is why I am jumping on the sports blog band wagon and coming along for the ride. I will add more links to the sidebar as time permits, the boss is about to walk by, and I will also actually write more about sports in the future - that I promise.

So, please, check daily, post a comment with good old squackbox or annoying blogger commenting is you like, it will be nice to talk to someone besides my keyboard, mouse and monitor, and enjoy the ride with me. I love sports, it is a true passion of mine, just was always a little to full of the "white mans disease" to accomplish anything with them. Could always hold my own at any sport - basketball, football, baseball, - but I ain't good enough to make any off my skills, just good enough not to embarrass myself.

So, I will write about sports then - got to be a player somehow. So sit back, relax and hopefully you will enjoy the journey with me. If not, then I will just erase this blog like my others and start again. But hopefully this one will stick. Until later - me.
