Lions + Thanksgiving = indigestion!

Well, another turkey day rolls around and another grand tradition in the Motor City - the thanksgiving day game featuring the Lions and some team that will kick the crap out of them! Seriously, why do we do this to ourselves each year? Why not play the Bears for goodness sake, and let the Colts play the Cowboys? I mean, at least the Bears are just as horrible as the Lions, so a 6-3 game would not be all that bad! Crap, it would probably put me to sleep and I would miss the embarrassing thing all together anyhow! But, all in all, it is a grand tradition - it is just a shame we have to watch the Lions get the snot knocked out of them for four quarters tomorrow. Anyone else find it ironic that they are playing Indianapolis, just after the famous brawl and all? Kind of an interesting side note, that is all. Not that I think anything will happen, all will be well, I just think it is funny. Anyway, all that being said, let us get on to the predictions.

Well, I hope maybe Peyton Manning will get bored before halftime, decide to let his back up play in the second half, and start his Thanksgiving early. The game WILL BE OVER BY HALF TIME, mark my words! Peyton will have thrown for four scores before the half, where as our great QB, "The Joey" will have thrown for none! Joey will be pulled and we will see a little of McMahon on this day, I guarantee it. The first half will end with an embarrassing score of 27-3, and McMahon will have the second half all to himself. Unfortunately saying that McMahon is better than Joey is like saying a Chevette is better than a Geo Prizm, you know? They both are pieces of shit that you hope have just enough gas to get you home, end of story. The Lions will get one TD in the game, late in the fourth quarter, when the Colts put in their marching band and members of the media to play for them! The final score prediction is:

Colts 44 - Lions 13.

Bye-bye Joey blue skies, hello any free agent QB the Lions can find ( Jon Kitna, Drew Brees, shit, I'd take Tim Couch at this point! ).

Well, have a happy and safe Wednesday night Thanksgiving Eve - the biggest bar night in America! Please drink responsibly and come back on Monday to read what I have in store next week! Also, enjoy turkey day with you and yours, and be thankful that there is a you and yours there! Love, give thanks and fill your bellies you fools!

Next week I am sure there will be more brawl talk, I am interested to see how the appeals go! Hopefully Stern will laugh in the faces of Artest and Jackson, tell them that they should be thankful that what they got was all they got! O'Neal I will give a five game reduction, but that is all! The rest need to be served, so deal with it you candy ass punks! See, I am getting upset again, so I need to stop for now!

Other topics will include a Thanksgiving wrap up, a Lions wrap up, the BS that Ohio State put U of M thru and some college bowl game preview stuff as well! Until then, god bless, be safe, and find something to give thanks for - even if it is just something small, at least it is something! Stay positive, keep plugging your CD or your blog and we will talk again soon - the sports dude!

Side bar updates...

I was bored this morning, so I finally cleaned up my side bar a little. It had always been bugging me that there was no real order or structure to it, so I took the time this morning to do just that. What can I say, believe it or not I am organized in my real life, so I decided to make my blog follow along.

Besides updating and restructuring, I added a few links here and there, mainly generic sports teams, information sites, etc. that slipped my mind when I first started this thing. I also added a few new sports blogs to my brethren section, give them a look and remind them to link to me darn it! Luke Walton needs some love in the sports blog world, give me some love!

All right, I am starting to scare myself now with all this "love talk", so I gots to go! I mean, I am a Detroiter, all we do is throw beer and popcorn and chairs at people, we be all thugs and punks and sissies and shit, right? Anyway, enough on that, enough on John Saunders and his punk ass, enough already! Until next time, keep loving, keep breathing - and stop wasting beer people! No one, let alone the Pacers, are worth a cup of beer - especially at $7.50 a cup dude! Take care, keep reading and we'll talk next time! This is the sports dude saying I am out - I got to go plug my CD on the Today Show! Peace, and remember I am a Tru Warier ( at least spell it right dude ).

The Rumble, the aftermath, the end...

I no longer want to talk about it, I know longer want to post about it, I no longer want to think about it. Moving on, that is what it is time to do. Therefore, I will post my closing points, my final thoughts, and move on in the sports world. It was, by far, the ugliest thing I have ever seen and hopefully there will never be anything close to that again. Now, here is my wrap - up:

John Saunders - I was embarrassed watching the event unfold, I was terrified thinking about the innocent bystanders in the stands, not knowing what Pacer was going to do what next. I was sadden by seeing the horrible event unfold before my eyes, but there was no anger in me at all until I turned on ESPN following the game. ( Note to readers, I watched the majority of the game on our local broadcast station because I enjoy our local announcers better than the ESPN guys ). What set me off, what got me literally shaking, for the first time at all was what John Saunders said when I turned on ESPN - paraphrasing his quote here - "Detroit fans are a bunch of punks, a bunch of sissies." Then later, again paraphrasing, "After watching it again I still say the same thing, Detroit fans are a bunch of punks and sissies". He didn't say just the few that were jerks, he said ALL OF THEM. And then, the spineless announcers that they all are, did nothing to say he was wrong in saying ALL OF THEM, they let him continue and they then went off on their own rants. They are all punks and sissies, if you ask me, and should be fined and take sensitivity training if you ask me.

Then, they continue on with the broadcast by saying that any player would have bolted into the stands like that, and anyone who says they wouldn't is full of it. First, any player wouldn't put themselves in a situation like that, there are only a few knuckleheads that would and Artest is the king of that crop! Joe Dumars would never go into the stands, shit Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn, the original BAD BOYS would never go into the stands. Michael Jordan - no. Grant Hill - no. Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, you name it - all NO's!!!! Artest is the punk, Artest is the sissy, Artest should take the fall and quite frankly I think he should be banned for life from the NBA, plain and simple. End of story - but the ESPN crew that day, and still to this day, should be embarrassed by their comments and their "reporting", to use the word loosely, on that day. Done.

Suspensions - They were handed down swiftly and justly, and I commend David Stern for his handling of the entire situation. ( If baseball and hockey had commissioners like the NBA, and even the NFL for that matter, there probably would be no problems would there be? Anyway, back to the point - ) I think Ben Wallace was suspended for three games too much, but then again I understand it. The Pacers, although they deserve it, lost their entire team for half the season basically, so I think Stern said "Look Ben, normally your shove and head band throw would have 2 or 3 games, but I got to give you some extra because - shit - the Pacers lost everything! Sorry, Ben, but I got to go to 6 games instead of 3". I am cool with that and I understand Sterns logic.

Now, Stephen Jackson - I think 30 games is a little low, but that is alright, I guess you got to give a little right? But, quite frankly, I think he should have gotten a full year like Artest, plain and simple. Artest, although he was wrong, was in the stands because someone threw something at him to make him charge. Jackson, all he was there for was because he is a punk, a sissy, and he just wanted to punch people! He had less right to be there, in the stands, then Artest, so bottom line he should be up there with Artest as well! Jermaine O'Neal, well, at first I thought 25 games was harsh, and I still think it is. I had not heard about him bitch slapping a security guard in the tunnel, for no reason, until now. I originally thought 15 games was fair for him, he does have a clean record and all. But, upon hearing the security guard stuff, I think 20 would be fair and not the 25 that was sent down by Stern.

If any of the appeals are heard, it should be O'Neal's and that is it. Drop 5 or 10 games off of his suspension and that is okay. But if Artest steps on the floor again this season, regular or playoffs, the NBA and Stern will look like frauds and fakes and phonies, plain and simple. Artest should be thankful he is not banned for life and Jackson should be thankful that he is not out for the entire year. Be a man, stop being pussies - Ben Wallace is a man, he is not appealing and I think out of all the suspensions he has the best one to appeal against! Give it up, get a life, go to anger management and stop whining - you are lucky you did not get more you assholes - and that is the truth, done!

The fans - this will be short, but not sweet! Anyone that is identified, they need to be fined, they need to do jail time if it comes with the penalty - basically, they need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! Take away season tickets for all them, for the year, with no refund. And the dude that threw the cup, he needs to banned from the Palace FOR LIFE, end of story. Not just this year, but forever! And not just for Pistons games, I am talking concerts, shit even the ice skating stuff! EVERYTHING FOREVER for this guy, and I think he should be on a watch list at the Joe, Ford Field and Comerica Park. Make the same example out of him that you made out of Artest, sending a message to the fans - it has to stop, it will not be tolerated, and it is unacceptable. Plus, he still needs to be prosecuted in a court of law to the fullest extent as well. But the Oakland County Prosecutors Office needs to make an example out of the fans, the same example that Stern is setting for the league, that is needs to stop - and stop now!

Now, in closing, I want you to go here and read this article. It is well written, an most importantly, by a professional journalist that is not corny and out in left field like me. It is worth the five minutes and will make you look at the mess from a new and refreshing angle.

Next, if you need any more proof that Artest is off his rocker, go here and watch his interview with Matt Lauer for the Today Show. ( It looks like MSN Video constantly refreshes itself, so you may need to do a little searching, but the interview was this morning and it is there! ) The dude had an opportunity to apologize, say he is wrong, say he is an ass, say anything along the lines of the brawl what so ever, and what does he do? He plugs his freaking CD, that is what he does! Yeah, a real team player, I am so sorry for you man! David Stern, please forgive him and let him play - he is just misunderstood and needs to sell CD's! Man, what a dumb ass! No wonder why fans hate you, no wonder why GM's hate you, no wonder why players, coaches, team mates, etc. hate you! You have a chance to apologize, live, before the nation on TV and you plug your CD?!?!? I give up, you are lost and hopeless, sick and demented, and really need help!

Well, that is all, maybe next time we can talk about happier things on this Happy Thanksgiving Week! Until then, keep praying for love and peace, there is not enough of it in any of our lives, and I mean all of us! Later, god speed and god bless - the sports dude!

Friday Night Fights from the Palace.

I do not even know where to begin, that is the sad part. You can spin this seven ways to Sunday and the bottom line, where you will always come back, is that this is an ugly, unfortunate event. Plain and simple, cross the T's and dot the I's, that is where you will come back. I guess I will start by recapping my evening and how it all started for me. I am married and have three kids, my wife and I had finally gotten them all off to bed, cleaned up the house from the days events of three wonderful boys, and were going to watch a movie. Well, as it always seems to happen, one of us just passes out on the couch from exhaustion, and on this night it was her turn. So, instead of watching a movie solo, I tune into the Pistons and Pacers on Channel 4, not ESPN, because I love George Blaha and Bill Laimbeer, the local announcers, and not the ESPN dweebs like Bill Walton.

Well, the game is pretty much out of reach and it is clear the Pistons are going to be on the losing end. Ben Wallace gets a cheap shot from Ron Artest at the end, with 45 seconds left, that means nothing besides the fact that Artest is trying to send a message for the rest of the season - we are on your backs and it is going to be a fight for the Eastern Conference. Big Ben takes exception to that and goes after Artest, letting him know that he doesn't appreciate cheap shots. Well, that started it and the two appeared ready to go at it. Then, the benches do a good job of keeping everyone separate and Reggie Miller and Stephen Jackson keep talking smack to Big Ben. So he throws a wrist band or something at Artest saying that "I ain't thru with you yet". So Artest continues to wimp out, laying on the scorers table and even grabbing a broadcast headset to "show boat" a little more. The next thing you know, some dumb ass fan throws a cup of beer and hits Artest square in the head and all hell breaks loose. You have all seen it by now, there is no need for anymore recap, it was hell before everyone's eyes breaking loose. Now, the after math.

Big Ben should have gotten a 2 or 3 game suspension, that is certain. He went after Artest, cheap shot and all, and that carries a fine and a suspension for instigating a fight. But 6 games? I guess David Stern saw all that the Pacers were going to lose and had to throw a few extra games at Ben just to make it seem somewhat fair, but that is the only justification I can see for the additional games. Now, the Pacers guys - that is all fair, and I am not saying that as a biased Piston fan, I am saying that because facts are facts - plain and simple. Artest had no right going into the stands, I don't care what a dumb drunk ass does, it is a written rule you do not go into the stands. Once he did that, unfortunately, all bets are off and the rumble was well under way. Am I condoning the fans actions? No, but Artest is a loose cannon anyway and he had no right going into the stands like that. Stephen Jackson went into the stands not to help restore order (like Rasheed Wallace did), but to beat up anyone that got in his way. The same goes for Jermaine O'Neal, who took a cheap shot at that poor fan on the floor. Granted that fan, just like Artest and Jackson had no right going into the stands, had no right being on the floor, but there was no reason for his cheap shot reaction. It was uncalled for and not necessary, plain and simple again. I told my wife that night, who I woke up so she could watch this embarrassing event unfold, what I thought the suspensions should be. And, although you won't believe me because, I hope, you were not at my house, Stern did exactly what I told my wife he should do - Artest all year, Jackson for 25 to 30 and O'Neal for 15 to 20. The only exception is I told her 2 to 3 for Ben, and he got a little extra.

Now, I am getting off on tangents here, and quite frankly, I will have to post again on this later because I am sure I am forgetting stuff, but I need to stop now. What I am leaving out is how pissed I am at John Saunders, who I will get into in my next posts, as well as what I think the league should do to the Pistons organization as well as the cops need to do to the fans they can identify. But that will have to come later, when I calm down a little bit. Until then, keep reading, give us some comments, and have a beer on me - not on Artest, I think he already has had his fill. Until that time comes, I am out like the Pacers playoff chances - the sports dude.

at 8:55 AM

Monday Morning Quarterback is in the house.

Well, I guess there was a big brawl at Auburn Hills this Friday, huh? Well, let me just say this, I was watching the game and I still can't believe it! Point is, I will talk on this later, right now I want to talk about the football weekend.

First, the Wolverines. Well, my prediction was dead on - if they gave the ball to Mike Hart enough they would be okay. But, unfortunately, Mike Hart did not have a good game, which meant that it all fell on Henne to be the hero. Well, all I can say is that it was Notre Dame all over again - and we all remember that game. Chad Henne crapped himself then to, and he did it again on Saturday. I know, I know, it is NOT all Henne's fault, he did the best he could - he is still a freshman, and had a REMARKABLE year as far as freshman are concerned. The defense was asleep most of the day as well, and Braylon had a couple HUGE drops. Ohio State just was hungrier than U of M, and that is what embarrassed me more than anything. But, the other end of my prediction came true as well - Wisconsin lost, I mean got embarrassed, by Iowa - therefore we get to go to The Rose Bowl, even if it is a little tainted.

Next, let us talk about the Lions - all right, I changed my mind. We are done talking about the Lions now, I am done. Joey still needs to go - look at his stat line, which was something like 12 - 20 for 92 yards, I think? Somewhere along those lines. Point is, the defense was tired the second half, looked like shit, because Joey was having too many three and outs. He needs to go and the sooner the better!

Well, that is all for right now, I promise I will touch on the Pistons brawl later. Until then I am out like John Saunders career should be - the sports dude! Welcome back!
